Backroads Forecasts Top Active Travel Destinations for 2014
Berkeley, CA (PRWEB) December 17, 2013 -- Backroads, the world’s premiere active travel company, today unveiled its top active travel locations and trends for 2014 based on current booking information. While sipping wine in the French countryside may sound relaxing, the Loire Valley, known for its historic towns, architecture and wines, is the top trending active travel destination for Backroads guests booking global vacations for the coming year. For those seeking U.S.-based travel adventures, Backroads revealed that the new Asheville to Greenville trip is the top active travel destination in 2014, closely followed by many of the national parks including the most popular – Bryce, Zion and Grand Canyon in Utah and Arizona — and the California Wine Country.
In addition to the Loire Valley, Backroads found that active global travelers were choosing Tuscany, Provence and Costa Rica as the next three most popular destinations. New areas emerging strongly for active travel in 2014 include Myanmar, Iceland/Greenland and Spain’s Mallorca.
"As an alternative to traditional travel, we enter 2014 with the belief that active travel is becoming the new norm for singles, couples and families who want to immerse themselves in the experience each trip has to offer," explains Backroads Founder and President Tom Hale. "We truly span the globe to provide the widest array of active travel destinations for our guests from the classic favorites to the new emerging hotspots."
