Backyard Farms Welcomes Chef Steve “Nookie” Postal to its Chef Network
Madison, ME (PRWEB) June 09, 2015 -- Backyard Farms, the largest grower of year-round tomatoes in New England, is pleased to announce that Steve “Nookie” Postal, chef/owner of Commonwealth Restaurant and Market in Cambridge, Mass., has joined Backyard Farms as an exclusive member of its Chef Network. Together Backyard Farms and Postal will work to bring consumers delicious recipes, cooking demonstrations and social media promotions.
“Sourcing the right ingredients is a huge part of what I do at Commonwealth,” said Postal. “It’s not often that I come across super fresh ingredients, like Backyard Farms tomatoes, that are delicious and great tasting all year-round. I’m psyched to be able to bring these tomatoes to my customers both on the menu and in the market.”
Commonwealth Restaurant and Market is a restaurant/market hybrid offering the best in local, seasonal food. Postal has long-standing relationships with New England farmers, fishermen, cheese-makers and purveyors, allowing him to consistently serve the freshest ingredients available. The result is a neighborhood market that serves the needs of the community and a restaurant that provides a great dining experience in a relaxed and casual environment.
“We are excited to have Nookie join our Chef Network roster,” said Jim Darroch, Backyard Farms’ director of marketing. “In addition to his culinary talents, we respect Nookie’s desire to be a true resource to his community—from foodies to families and everyone in between. Adding a dedicated chef like Nookie to our team is a great compliment to our business and our tomatoes.”
A graduate of Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, Postal is the former Executive Chef at Boston’s landmark Fenway Park career and sous chef to the award-winning chef Ana Sortun at Casablanca and Oleana. He was a finalist in “Around the World in 80 Plates” on Bravo network, circling the globe competing in culinary challenges in exotic places like Marrakesh, Florence and Buenos Aires.
Backyard Farms understands that tomatoes are a key element to creating delicious recipes and believes the best chefs value access to fresh tomatoes, especially in the off-season months. With this philosophy, Backyard Farms is committed to learning from and listening to chefs to find out what they want in a tomato and what types of tomatoes they like to see in the marketplace for mutual benefit.
