BALANCE Announces Internship Program and Financial Education for Displaced Lending Club Interns
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (PRWEB) May 27, 2016 -- BALANCE, formerly known as Consumer Credit Counseling Service of San Francisco, has opened its summer internship program to include displaced Lending Club interns. BALANCE will provide interns with real world experience in their area of study, as well as the opportunity to work directly with executives on some of the nation’s most pressing financial capability issues.
In keeping with BALANCE’s commitment to financial wellness, all interns are required to participate in one of BALANCE’s financial education programs geared toward the millennial demographic.
“As the leader in financial coaching and financial wellness, BALANCE recognizes the need for preventative education on key personal finance topics,” stated Kathryn Davis, president & CEO of BALANCE. “We believe working with college students is an excellent opportunity to help them prepare for life after graduation, as well as supply them with the skills needed to help build their resume. When we heard about Lending Club abruptly cancelling their internship program, we felt the need to provide assistance to those interns, especially given how many were coming from outside the Bay Area.”
Millennials face unique issues as they graduate from college. On average, one in three phone calls made to BALANCE is the result of a student loan debt issue. In addition, with more than 57% of the country struggling with their overall financial health, BALANCE has launched a financial education measure in the workplace to help consumers make better decisions and plan ahead to avoid financial issues down the road. Core components of this personal finance program is understanding how to save, acquire and use credit wisely, and also manage debt, specifically the obligations of student loans.
