Ballerina and Oaks Christian Online Student Anjoulie Kempton Sets Her Sights on the San Francisco Ballet Company
Westlake Village, CA (PRWEB) December 13, 2016 -- Dancing since the age of three, Anjoulie has the focus and determination to be a success. Anjoulie trains at the Southland Ballet Academy in Orange County, California. Moving to Orange County for dance was one of the main reasons why she decided to enroll in Oaks Christian Online’s middle school program. When asked how OCO has helped her academic career and pursuit of outside activities, Anjoulie states, “OCO has helped me because it has made me more mature. Anjoulie has a busy next few months ahead. She is dancing in this year’s Festival Ballet Theatre’s production of The Nutcracker which will take place at the Irvine Barclay Theatre & Cheng Hall. There will be 15 performances starting December 10th through December 24th. Anjoulie performs in 13 of the 15 performances and has four parts including: Merliton, Arabian, Flowers and Party Friend. She is “half nervous and half excited!” When asked how this event helps her in pursuing her passion of dance, Anjoulie says,”The artistic director has a lot of connections and they will come and see or even perform in the show.” Anjoulie will also have the opportunity to meet soloists and famous dancers.
In addition to performing in The Nutcracker, Anjoulie is preparing for The Festival Ballet Theatre production of Don Quixote in March, as well as preparing for the 2017 Youth America Grand Prix, an annual student ballet competition open to dance students between 8 - 19 years old. The competition attracts over 8,000 participants from around the world and awards scholarships to elite dance schools in the U.S. and abroad. Participants get exposure to world renowned directors of ballet schools and companies.
One of Anjoulie’s highlights as a dance student was when she met Maria Kochetkova, a Russian ballet dancer and a Principal Dancer for both the San Francisco Ballet and American Ballet Theatre. Anjoulie met Kochetkova this past August and was able to get an autograph and photo with her.
When asked about her other passions besides dance, Anjoulie states, “I love cooking, baking and eating at my favorite restaurants.” And, when asked what she likes best about OCO, she adds, “One of my favorite things about OCO is my classmates. I really like my classmates and the teachers. They are really fun!”
