Baltimore Jiu Jitsu school, Crazy88 BJJ, Promotes Two Students to Rank of Blue Belt
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) July 28, 2013 -- On Friday, July 26, the Blue belt squad of Crazy 88 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu welcomed Patrick Rivera and Dan Abretske to the ranks.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a grappling martial arts style made famous by the Gracie family. Jiu-Jitsu is most widely recognized for its use in mixed martial arts competitions such as the Ultimate FIghting Championship (UFC) and Bellator Fighting Championships.
The ranking system of Jiu-Jitsu is as follows: White, Blue, Purple, Brown and then Black belt. Due to the technical nature of the sport, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can take upwards to 10+ years to reach the Black belt level of mastery. In a system of only five belts, each promotion is considered an accomplishment.
Patrick came to Crazy 88 approximately 2 years ago with previous Jiu-Jitsu and MMA system. He quickly adapted to the Crazy 88 system and became a dedicated student whose training including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, No Gi grappling and Muay Thai Kickboxing.
Dan Abretske is a long-time student of Crazy 88. He kept a regular training routine throughout the past few years even after suffering a serious knee injury in a competition which kept him off the mats for almost a full year.
Head Instructor, Julius Park said of Rivera, "We're proud to promote these two hard-working students tonight. They have both committed themselves to the study of grappling martial arts and deserve to be Blue Belts."
