Banshee Wines Tasting Room Brings a Fresh Approach to the Wine Experience in Downtown Healdsburg
Healdsburg, CA (PRWEB) September 18, 2013 -- Banshee Wines officially opened their new tasting room today in the NoPla (North of the Plaza) area of Downtown Healdsburg. The Banshee Wines Tasting Room was designed in Sonoma heritage meets luxurious modern décor. With distressed leather furniture, reclaimed wood floors and walls, spinning vinyl, and a vintage communal table, the Banshee Tasting Room is a place where visitors can relax, listen to great music and enjoy delicious Sonoma County wines.
“The Banshee tasting room really is an amped up version of our own homes,” said Baron Ziegler, Co-Founder and Director of Sales at Banshee Wines. “You don’t have to ask brilliant questions of our winemaking staff. You can come in, hang out and enjoy time with your friends over a killer glass of wine.”
Banshee Wines, known primarily for their Sonoma County Pinot Noir, offers a distinct lineup of wines from cool-climate, hillside, and primarily Sonoma Coast vineyards. Banshee opened the tasting room with limited services at the end of August, but is now open 7 days a week, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wine is available by the glass or bottle and tastings range from $10 - $20. Savory menu items are available from chef Jenna Sprafkin, and her team at SHED Healdsburg, to complement the wines. Menu items may include a chicken liver mousse with seasonal fruit gelée, house-smoked trout, and smashed zucchini spread, along with an assortment of house-made SHED breads and crackers.
“Healdsburg has evolved into one of the best destinations in the world for wine lovers,” said Noah Dorrance, Co-Founder and Head Winemaker for Banshee Wines. “We’re humbled to be part of this community and make our lives here. We wanted to add something to the fabric of Healdsburg that really broadened the experience for locals and visitors."
Banshee Wines was founded by three friends from the Midwest and East Coast who shared a passion for wine and a lifelong dream of owning their own winery. Their fascination with wine started early in life and while their peers were drinking Milwaukee's Best, they had an affinity towards collecting European wines and hosting dorm room wine tastings. Post-college, each pursued a career in the wine industry, ranging from importing wines, to winemaking, to distribution and sales. When their paths ultimately converged in San Francisco, they shared many meals, bottles of wine, concerts, and laughs with one another. In 2009 they pooled their money together to make the first vintage of the Banshee Wines Pinot Noir, which sold out in three short months. By the end of the year, Banshee Wines was their full-time pursuit.
“The bar was set very high in Healdsburg and we knew we had to create something that would live up to the neighborhood,” added Steve Graf, Co-Founder & Director of West Coast Sales. “It’s been a dream come true for us to build Banshee Wines over the last four years. And now, to have a place we can share that dream with everyone is truly rewarding."
