Baptist Memorial Health Care Celebrates Opening of New Children’s Hospital
Birmingham, Alabama (PRWEB) February 11, 2015 -- Robins & Morton recently completed construction of the new Spence and Becky Wilson Baptist Children's Hospital. Baptist officials celebrated project completion with a ribbon-tying ceremony on January 22, complete with a children's choir and comic book heroes. The centerpiece of the new facility, a 10-room, 17,000-square-foot emergency department, began accepting patients on Jan. 28.
There will be 24/7 emergency medicine coverage, and a pediatric diagnostic area and surgery prep. It will also house the Pediatric Eye Center to provide care from diagnosis, treatment, surgery and follow-up.
Robins & Morton also broke ground on the new Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in October 2014. The 600,000-square-foot facility will be complete in 2017, providing 217 beds for patients in Oxford, Mississippi and the surrounding areas.
Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi will bring more comprehensive medical and surgical services to the area, including the Baptist Cancer Center, cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery and an emergency department expanding to add 35 rooms.
The five-story hospital is the largest economic development event in Lafayette County, and one of the largest hospitals in North Mississippi.
