Barn Hunt of the Bluegrass is Bringing the Exciting Dog Sport of Barn Hunt to the Lexington Area
Lexington, Kentucky (PRWEB) January 28, 2015 -- Barn Hunt is the rapidly growing dog sport in which dog and handler teams search for and identify rats hidden in hay. Dogs must go through tunnels and climb onto hay bales as they search for rats. The rats are kept safely in tubes and are not harmed during the event. In trials, dogs compete for titles, earned by completing a certain number of successful runs. Each dog is timed and placings are given for the fastest runs.
Trainer Arwen Price states, “Barn hunt appeals to a wide audience because any age and breed dog can be successful. It is also a sport that people can enjoy with their dogs without a huge time commitment.” Some people are serious competitors and some just enjoy having something fun to work on with the family pet. All breeds and mixed breeds over 6 months old are welcome to compete.
Barn Hunt of the Bluegrass was approved as an official club by the Barn Hunt Association on January 11, 2015. It was founded by Arwen Price and P.R. Gerrow, trainers at Sit Means Sit Dog Training of Lexington. Barn Hunt of the Bluegrass will host all events at the Sit Means Sit facility. The facility is on a 100 acre farm and has an indoor training facility and three tobacco barns, giving plenty of room to host large barn hunt trials, seminars, and events.
To kick off this new club, Barn Hunt of the Bluegrass is offering an informational seminar, “Intro to Barn Hunt” on Saturday, February 7 at 2:00, 4:00, and 6:00 pm. This hour and a half seminar will cover an explanation of barn hunt, the rules and objectives, and a hands on introduction to rats for every dog. Cost is $10 per dog and space is limited, visit http://sitmeanssit.com/dog-training-mu/lexington-dog-training/barn-hunt/ to reserve a spot.
