Bass Lake Hosting Inaugural Youth Triathlon
Bass Lake, CA (PRWEB) August 02, 2013 -- Already the site for the popular Bass Lake Classic Triathlon every June, Bass Lake will be playing host to a second multi-sport event, this one targeting youth.
The inaugural My Tri Mountain Area Youth Triathlon will take place on Sept. 7 at Miller’s Landing on Bass Lake’s south shore.
“We wanted to promote healthy living and exercise in our mountain youth,” said Michelle Miller with Miller’s Landing.
“We thought that this triathlon will be a great way to get kids into something healthy while having fun.”
The event has two race distances, the Junior Division which includes a 50 yard swim, 1.5 mile bike ride and .5 mile run and the Masters Division with a 100 yard swim, four mile bike ride and one mile run.
The triathlon is open to all kids ages 5 – 17. Entry costs $25 for all entries received prior to August 26, and $20 for additional siblings. After the early bird deadline, rates go up to $30 for the first entry and $25 per each sibling.
Proceeds from the race will benefit the North Fork school athletics.
“We’re hoping to make this a big annual event and grow it each year. Our goal is to get kids excited about fitness while raising funds for local charities,” said Miller.
In addition to the race, there will be various activities such as a bounce house, sign-making station for siblings to make signs to cheer on their family members, sidewalk chalk art and more.
