Bay Area Discovery Museum Selected to Host Special Exhibition on Freeman Foundation Asian Culture Exhibit Series Tour
Sausalito, CA (PRWEB) April 22, 2014 -- The Bay Area Discovery Museum is pleased to announce its selection as a host museum for the Freeman Foundation Asian Culture Exhibit Series tour. The Museum will present Confucius’ China, produced by The Magic House, St. Louis Children’s Museum (MO), for a four month special engagement beginning January 2016.
During the special exhibition, the Museum plans to strengthen existing partnerships with local cultural organizations, including the Marin Chinese Cultural Organization, the Museum’s longstanding partner in its annual Chinese New Year Festival.
“We are grateful for the incredible opportunity for the Museum to seamlessly integrate developmentally appropriate exhibitions and awareness of Asian culture, while simultaneously engaging the local community with a family-focused exhibition,” said Museum CEO Karyn Flynn.
The Freeman Foundation Asian Culture Exhibit Series is funded by The Freeman Foundation and administered by Association of Children’s Museums to bring outstanding interactive exhibits about Asian cultures to children, their families and school groups at children’s museums across the United States.
Through a competitive selection process, forty children’s museums across the United States have been selected to host one of five exhibits on Asian culture. These exhibits travel at no cost to the host museum and each host museum will receive funds to support exhibit activities. As the exhibits travel, many host museums will partner with their local community organizations to bring a range of Asian cultural programming to the museums.
