Bay Pines VA Healthcare System to Offer Onsite Chiropractic Services
Bay Pines, FL (PRWEB) April 14, 2014 -- The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System (VAHCS) will officially begin offering “in-house” chiropractic services on April 28, 2014. Led by newly hired chiropractor Dr. Jason Napuli, the program will augment the healthcare system’s robust Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service (PM&R) located at the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center in Bay Pines, Fla.
Napuli, a long-time resident of New York, brings more than 10 years of chiropractic experience with him to the Bay Pines VAHCS and is also a commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Most recently, he served as a staff chiropractic physician with the Bath, N.Y. VA Medical Center, chiropractic consultant for the Canandaigua, N.Y. VA Medical Center, and adjunct associate professor for the New York Chiropractic College. He is also a credentialed medical staff professional for the Professional Golf Association (PGA).
“Our new chiropractic program and hire of Dr. Napuli allows us to provide another great patient-centered rehabilitative service within the walls of our award-winning medical center,” said Dr. Dominque A. Thuriere, Chief of Staff, Bay Pines VAHCS.
In addition to the start of the new program, plans are also in place to begin an academic training program at the medical center for chiropractic students enrolled at the National University of Health Sciences located in St. Petersburg, Fla.
“Investing resources into this new and growing program will not only provide additional options and increased access for Veterans seeking rehabilitation services, it will also provide a non-medication alternative for Veterans dealing with chronic pain,” she said.
Chiropractic care is widely used for back pain and related conditions. It can also be used to treat neck pain, pain from an accident or injury, muscle spasms, pinched nerves and other problems related to the spine, muscles and bones. Chiropractors will often treat pain with manual adjustment, or manipulation. The intent of a chiropractic adjustment is to improve the function of nerves and joints to reduce pain and aid recovery.
Veterans interested in chiropractic care can speak with their primary care provider for more information.
