BBB of Fort Worth and City of Fort Worth Partner to Help Consumers Protect Personal Information and Keep Fort Worth Beautiful
Fort Worth, TX (PRWEB) November 14, 2014 -- The holidays are right around the corner and according to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) identity theft topped the list of complaints received by the agency in 2013*. One of the best ways to prevent identity theft is to get rid of important documents securely and why not help the environment at the same time?
The City of Fort Worth and Better Business Bureau® of Fort Worth and Tarrant County, Inc. (BBB of Fort Worth) are teaming up for America Recycles Day on Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at LaGrave Field in Fort Worth, TX. Residents and businesses are invited to bring up to five boxes of paper documents and have them shredded at the free event.
“Scammers make their living by preying upon hard working consumers and businesses,” said Larry Taylor, CEO of BBB of Fort Worth. “It’s through partnerships with other local organizations that BBB of Fort Worth is able to expand its reach to educate more consumers on the ways they can protect their personal information.”
Fort Worth residents can also get rid of hard to recycle household items, such as light bulbs, batteries, tires, electronics, and plastic bags. Participants are asked to bring their drivers’ license or water bill for entrance to the event.
“The City of Fort Worth is committed to keeping our city beautiful and doing our part to educate our residents and businesses on the proper ways to dispose of and recycle household items,” said Debbie Branch of the City of Fort Worth. “We are excited to partner with other organizations who share the same commitment.”
