Beat Infertility Podcast Launches to Deliver Hope, Support to Struggling Couples
Washington, DC (PRWEB) June 06, 2015 -- Beat Infertility, a weekly podcast that gets real about infertility, empowers listeners to take back control, and provides them hope for the future, launched as free on-demand support for struggling couples.
“One in eight couples in the U.S., one in six in Canada, and one in four worldwide experience some form of infertility,” said host Heather Huhman. “Even though most people don’t talk about it openly, this problem is widespread. There are plenty of support forums online if you’re ready to discuss your struggle, but none that allow you to just sit back and listen...until now.”
The show is primarily targeted at people who:
- Have been trying for a year or more to have a baby without success
- Have been diagnosed with some form of infertility, including unexplained
- Feel alone on their infertility journey
- Feel like giving up and could use some hope on their infertility journey
- Are back to fertility treatments to try for another baby
- Know someone struggling with infertility and want to understand what they’re going through
Although there will occasionally be episodes that don’t follow this format, the standard episode is made up of two interviews: the first with someone who’s overcome infertility and either had a baby or is currently pregnant, and the second with someone who’s still on their infertility journey.
Huhman identifies with her listeners because she too is struggling with infertility. In the nearly four years she and her husband have been trying to start their family, she’s had four miscarriages, six IVF transfers, two IVF egg retrievals, and lost twins during delivery. But she’s not given up hope and wants to bring that optimism back into people’s lives.
“I know what it’s like to feel inadequate as a woman, a wife, a daughter,” said Huhman. “Our stories are all different -- different diagnoses, different paths, different lengths of time -- but our struggle is the same. No one should take on this disease feeling alone. If I can deliver even the slightest bit of hope and energy to every listener, I’ll consider it a success.”
Huhman recommends first-time listeners start with Episode 00 to hear her full story and get a feel for the show. The following listening options are available:
- The Beat Infertility website
- iTunes (Apple devices and PC desktops)
- Stitcher (Android devices)

Those looking to be on the show as either a success story or someone the show follows along their journey are encouraged to contact Huhman via the podcast’s website.
