BeatBuddy Steals the Show at Winter NAMM 2014
ANAHEIM, Calif. (PRWEB) January 31, 2014 -- BeatBuddy—the world’s first guitar pedal/drum machine that enables musicians to have complete control of a beat made its debut at Winter NAMM 2014 to great fanfare this past week.
According to its manufacturer, Singular Sound’s David Packouz, the enthusiastic response was “overwhelming” with many show attendees saying it “stole the show.”
Each day, the NAMM booth had crowds gathering to watch the BeatBuddy being performed live by artists that included GRAMMY-nominated guitarist Fernando Perdomo, Tony Newton of Motown Funk Brother, Jennifer Jo Oberle and Steve Fekete of Vertical Horizon, and singers who joined the fun with impromptu improvised freestyle songs. Other celebrity musicians who stopped by were equally impressed. Legendary multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and record producer Todd Rundgren came to see the BeatBuddy after having read the online buzz. “I love that thing!” said Rundgren. “I should have invented it!”
NAMM attendees were also invited to play with the BeatBuddy themselves, listen to the pre-loaded content on headphones, and create their own songs with the PC/Mac interface software.
Due to the enthusiastic reaction to the versatility provided by the software, Singular Sound has also released a video tutorial to highlight its capabilities.
“I’ve been coming to NAMM for 15 years,” said Mike Hind, a prolific Ukulele performer from Bermuda. “I’ve never seen anything that will fundamentally change the singer/songwriter scene like the BeatBuddy. For example, not needing a drummer will save both money and headaches on my 200-plus yearly solo gigs. This is not just a minor improvement on an existing device—it’s radically new, and brilliantly enabling. What’s more, it’s just plain fun to jam with.”
Packouz notes that BeatBuddy met its Indiegogo crowdfunding goal of $75,000 in less than 20 hours, and has since passed $250,000 in pre-sales, with less than a week left in the campaign.
The BeatBuddy will be available in retail outlets beginning August 2014 for $349. Crowdfunding campaign supporters can have their BeatBuddy delivered in April for only $199 if they meet the February 4 pre-order deadline.
