Belatrix Held an Unprecedented Hackathon in Peru
Lima, Peru (PRWEB) June 03, 2016 -- More than 100 programmers gathered at the San Martin de Porres University in Lima, the capital city of Peru, to participate in the 5th edition of “Hackatrix”, Belatrix´s hackathon. More than 20 teams competed in the coding marathon.
The hackathon kicked off early in the morning, and soon everyone was divided into teams and picked an idea, submitted prior to the event. The idea bank was open to any person who wanted to collaborate, with just one condition: the ideas had to serve a social purpose.
The diverse jury consisted of representatives from the entrepreneur organization Endeavor, startups, the largest Peruvian bank BCP, and San Martin de Porres University. Innovation was one of the key criteria for the evaluation. The winning project was “YoDonante”, a web page that manages blood donations. In the category of most popular, the winner was “Deep Genetic”, an app to help improve cattle genetics and breeding.
“We feel really proud knowing that our Hackatrix has become so popular with the Lima community. All the ideas proposed were splendid, and we can see how the software community is eager to share their skills with society. Our next hackathon will be in Buenos Aires in September, and we hope to see as many people willing to help as in Peru” shared Luis Robbio, CEO & Co-Founder of Belatrix Software.
