Bellucci Premium Comments on a New Study that Supports an Olive Oil and Lime Treatment for Burns
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) November 27, 2013 -- Bellucci Premium comments on a recent study published by the Nigerian Tribune that gives supporting evidence for a successful olive oil and lime treatment for burns.
According to the article published on November 14th titled, “Study confirms why olive oil, lime mixture treat burns leaving no scar,” burn wounds are complicated injuries to heal. Aside from the initial burn that leaves the skin open to various and intense infections, the burn itself takes quite some time to heal. Once healed the main concern is the scar that a burn can potentially leave.
The article details new evidence that an age-old treatment for burns, mixing olive oil with lime cream, helps to alleviate all of these concerns for a burn victim. The combination of the two has been used in the past since they boast healing properties such as being rich in antioxidants and contain vitamins A,E,K and D.
This new study, published in the African Journal of Traditional Complement Alternative Medicine, examines in detail the effects that this mixture has on the skin of a burn victim. The article reports how the study closely examines the effects of olive oil and lime cream, both separately and in combination, on yeast cultures in vitro. The researchers used homemade olive oil and extra virgin olive oil for the study.
As per their results, the article shared how the lime cream has significant antibacterial and cytotoxic effects but it also had those effects on the burn victim’s healthy skin cells, resulting in a negative outcome. However, the combination of the olive oil and lime cream yielded different results. The olive oil mitigated the toxic effects of the lime cream so it no longer affected the healthy cells needed to recover from the burn. The combination of olive oil and lime cream also decreases the amount of scar tissue.
Natalie Sexenian, marketing manager for Bellucci Premium, commented on these recent findings. “Using olive oil as a moisturizer is common so I am not surprised to see that it can help heal burns,” she says. “Given the wealth of nutrition and uses olive oil has, I wouldn’t be surprised to see more uses, such as the one in this study, discovered.”
Bellucci offers three different types of oil, including an organic option, with a mild peppery flavor and fruity undertones that will satisfy any palate.
