Belvoir Federal Supports AFCPE in Sending a Military Spouse to their Annual Symposium

Woodbridge, VA (PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- Belvoir Federal Credit Union sponsored the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE®) Military Spouse Fellow Registration Scholarship Program.

The AFCPE is an official partner of the Joining Forces initiative headed up by the First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden. Joining Forces is a national initiative to mobilize all sectors of society to give service members and their families the opportunities and support they need to transition to civilian careers.

With Belvoir Federal Credit Union’s sponsorship, one military spouse will receive the Military Spouse Fellow Registration Scholarship to attend the AFCPE Symposium in November. This year’s Symposium will celebrate 30 years of the AFCPE’s annual research and training program whereby attendees receive preparation and education to help other service members as well as advance his/her own career in financial counseling and education.

Kelli Anthon, Belvoir Federal’s Financial Coach, has served for 5 years on the final selection committee for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Inc. (FINRA) Military Spouse Fellowship program. The primary objective is to increase career opportunities and enhance the well-being of all military families. The Fellowship program trains military spouses to become certified as an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC).
