The PopUp Dinner Brooklyn presented by Acura is a fundraising event for The Prospect Park Alliance. The Acura pre-sale tickets, which were made available on April 28th, sold out in just 4 hours.
Multi-platinum selling singer/songwriter/producer Ben Folds, who first found success as the front man of the indie rock band Ben Folds Five, will showcase some of his pop hits in a special solo performance thanks to support from Acura. This special performance is delivered amidst the Ben Folds Orchestra Experience Tour, a tour co-sponsored by Acura in which the artist performs with orchestras in cities across the USA, as well as overseas. Folds previously performed to a sold out crowd in 2013 in Prospect Park, and is expected to be a major highlight in support of the Prospect Park Alliance’s fundraising efforts. A professional photographer and historic recording studio owner, Folds’ also writes music for film and TV, and most recently received critical acclaim for his insight as a judge on NBC's a cappella competition "The Sing-Off.”
The PopUp Dinner Brooklyn presented by Acura will be held in a secret location in Prospect Park that will be disclosed to ticket holders via email just two hours before the event begins. Gates will open at 5pm for set up and dinner will start promptly at 7pm. The event will gather thousands dressed elegantly in white as they design lavish table decor, and bring their own inspired menus to celebrate an unforgettable summer evening with friends. In addition, Acura will provide unique offerings to all guests to help enhance their enjoyment of the evening. Various musicians will provide light entertainment during the set-up window, leading into the live performance by Ben Folds and concluding with a DJ and dancing.
The PopUp Dinner Brooklyn presented by Acura is the first of its kind to be held in Prospect Park. "At Acura, we take an innovative approach to redefine the driving experience," said Gary Robinson, Manager of Acura Advertising. “A partnership with Handmade-Events, who similarly is revolutionizing the outdoor dining experience, makes perfect sense. To be able to work together to deliver an exciting and innovative event experience all while benefiting the Prospect Park Alliance is icing on the cake."
Prospect Park is one of Brooklyn's most treasured destinations—a 585-acre urban respite in the heart of the City. The Prospect Park Alliance works in partnership with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation to keep the Park clean, safe and beautiful, and plays a significant role in funding its operation, restoration and programming. “We are thrilled to partner with Hand Made Events on this exciting new fundraising event” said James Snow, Acting President of the Prospect Park Alliance. “PopUp Dinner Brooklyn provides a great way for lots of New Yorkers to be part of something new and at the same time support the Park and help us make a great park greater.”
