Victor, NY (PRWEB) January 23, 2014 -- BERG Racing is looking forward to the start of the 2014 IMSA Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series at this year’s Daytona Rising 200. The team will be campaigning the No. 40 REDCOM Boxster and No. 50 REDCOM/Bionic Cayman on January 24 at the iconic speedway. This will mark BERG Racing's third season in which the husband and wife Weisberg drivers/team owners will race in the IMSA Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.
"Bionic Man" James Vance has joined the BERG Racing team, and will co-drive the REDCOM/Bionic Environments #50 Porsche Cayman with team owner, John Weisberg. The duo will team up for the season, with an eye on the championship. Veteran racers, Ari Straus and Joe Massesa, will team up in the No. 40 REDCOM Boxster, also sponsored by Monticello Motor Club.
"I am extremely excited to get to work in the #50 Porsche Cayman powered by Bionic Environments and REDCOM Laboratories!" said new team member, James Vance. "It has been what had felt like the longest off-season yet, with lots of change and uncertainty. I am very excited that we have a full season to show what we can do, and I have all the confidence in the world in John and the team behind us at BERG Racing. It's a long season, and we are just looking for consistent finishes, and if we can do that, we most definitely will have succeeded."
The #50 Porsche Cayman replaces the #50 Boxster that the team has run in the past, and sports a larger 2.9 l motor and better aerodynamics. The #40 Boxster has also been updated to 2009 specs.
Team owner John Weisberg commented, “It’s very exciting to introduce new drivers and partners to such an exciting series. CTSSC is arguably the most competitive series in North America, if not the world. James and I will have a steep road ahead and it won’t be easy. With the added performance of the Cayman, and great sponsors like REDCOM and Bionic we feel we have the right package for the job.”
In October, construction started on a new BERG Racing facility in Webster, NY. The approximately 13,000 square foot building, expected to be completed in March 2014, will combine shop, Dyno, storage, and office space. The shop will focus on the custom fabrication and modification of specialized automobiles for street and track, in addition to the development of the team’s race cars.
Weisberg is also pleased to announce that REDCOM Laboratories, Inc. will again be the featured sponsor of the BERG Racing team in the IMSA Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series. "BERG Racing thanks REDCOM and Monticello Motor Club for their continued support of the BERG Racing team, and welcomes Bionic Environments and ColorTrack as new sponsors."
