Bernardsville, N.J. (PRWEB) July 08, 2015 -- The Bernards Inn, a fine dining restaurant and boutique hotel celebrated for its extensive and unique wine collection, has been lauded as having one of the best wine programs in the world by the World of Fine Wine in its 2015 World’s Best Wine List Awards.
This is the second year in a row that The Bernards Inn has earned the top-tier, three star rating and joins such esteemed restaurants as Eleven Madison Park and Per Se in New York City, Noma in Copenhagen and The Ledbury in London. The international panel of judges from the World of Fine Wine judged over 4,000 restaurants globally and only 300 received the top rating.
The Bernards Inn offers more than 1,500 selections in its 14,000-bottle collection, carefully selected by Wine Director and Sommelier Terri Baldwin, to complement the progressive American cuisine crafted by Executive Chef Corey Heyer. Under the direction of Baldwin, now in her 23rd year at the award-winning restaurant, The Bernards Inn has received Wine Spectator’s “Best of Award of Excellence” for 16 consecutive years.
“We are proud and humbled to be recognized alongside such global dining greats by The World of Fine Wine Magazine,” said Terri Baldwin. “We’re committed to providing world-class dining experiences for our guests and this honor affirms that we are succeeding.”
The World of Fine Wine lauded the Inn’s wine program on its website: “Terri A. Baldwin, the highly respected wine director at The Bernards Inn, has taken a creative, open-minded approach to the wine program at the luxury hotel and restaurant in Bernardsville, New Jersey. Designed to match the “progressive American” cuisine of Chef Corey W. Heyer, her list is extensive, with 1,500 labels. It’s also wide-ranging, covering the New World as well as the Old, classics as well as emerging regions, and with a peerless collection of fine domestic wines. Crucially, however, it’s also easy to navigate, offering easy ways for both novice and expert to explore. The judges particularly liked the diverse, fairly priced by-the-glass list, and the selection of wine flights, trios of 2 oz pours themed by headings such as “Riesling & Sauvignon Blanc” or “Cabernet & Cabernet Blends.” But this is a strong list stocked with interesting gems wherever you look, from the Finger Lakes sparkling wines of Hermann J. Wiemer, to Croft Port 1935.”
Under the direction of Baldwin, The Bernards Inn offers a selection of over 60 wines by the glass reflecting what is new, noteworthy, and exciting in the wine world. The collection features many different styles from regions around the world with a range of prices starting at only $7.75 a glass. A temperature-controlled, custom-made wine cellar located in the Piano Bar displays up to 960 bottles for guests and wine enthusiasts to view.
WINE DOWN HAPPY HOURS
Wine lovers can currently enjoy “Wine Down” Happy Hours every Wednesday on the terrace or Piano Bar from 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. Guests choose from a selection of wine flights—red, white or rosé—and enjoy a seasonal appetizer sampler from Chef Corey Heyer. The Bernards Inn hosts special wine tasting dinners and wine events throughout the year, including the Fall Walk-Around Wine Tasting Event on October 2. Additionally, the recently redesigned Wine Pantry provides a sophisticated, private venue for unique events, meetings and special occasions.
