Bernstein Liebhard LLP Launches Mirena Lawsuit Website for Women Alleging Spontaneous Migration of IUD as Nationwide Case List Tops 1,000
New York, NY (PRWEB) April 20, 2014 -- The attorneys at Bernstein Liebhard LLP have unveiled a new Mirena lawsuit (http://www.mirenalawsuit2014.com/) website for women who allegedly experienced complications stemming from spontaneous migration of the IUD, and are now considering a claim against its manufacturer, the Firm reports.
Among other information included on the Firm’s new site will be updates related to the nationwide litigation of claims over Mirena, a birth control implant approved in 2000 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as well as a detailed list of side effects that have been suggested to occur after insertion by a healthcare provider. Court records show continued progress in two Mirena lawsuit litigations established at the U.S. In the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, a recent court update shows more than 484 cases now filed in a multidistrict litigation established for federal cases over the IUD. Women involved in the proceeding allege similar injuries from the IUD, which they say was designed defectively given its potential to migrate way from the uterine wall. Vaginal scarring, infection, organ damage and other alleged side effects of Mirena have been claimed in lawsuits now pending in New Jersey’s Bergen County Superior Court, where suits have been consolidated for pretrial proceedings. A Case List updated April 2nd on the court’s website shows 703 IUD lawsuits now filed in the jurisdiction by plaintiffs in who allege that Bayer has a long-standing history of overstating Mirena’s effectiveness in preventing pregnancy for up to five years, and downplaying its risk for side effects. The FDA warned the company against such behavior in 2009, when they sent a Warning Letter that took issue with certain marketing claims involving the IUD. That same year, Mirena’s list of approved uses expanded to include the treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding in women who used it for birth control.
