Best Drug Rehabilitation Gives Back to the Community Through Local Habitat for Humanity
Manistee, Michigan (PRWEB) April 13, 2015 -- On Saturday, March 28, 2015, a volunteer team comprised of staff and patients from Best Drug Rehabilitation, an open-ended results-based substance abuse recovery center, helped out the local Manistee, MI chapter of Habitat for Humanity. The team members removed and transported furniture that was donated to Habitat for Humanity, which will be used to help local families in need, to a storage facility for future use.
“The recovery program at Best Drug Rehabilitation focuses intently on learning how to give back to the community,” commented Veronica Johnson, Best Drug Rehabilitation’s Executive Director. “Through various forms of volunteer work, such as the help that our team gave to Habitat for Humanity today, we are able to give positive reinforcement to some of those concepts that our treatment program tries to instill in our patients. Additionally, the feeling that we get when we help others in need is a great morale booster for everyone that participates.”
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that aims to provide affordable quality housing to those in need. The majority of construction is accomplished through volunteer efforts, such as the help given by the Best Drug Rehabilitation staff and patients, and the bulk of funding is provided through corporate donations and the housing recipients’ mortgage payments, which go directly back into the Habitat account to help pay for additional construction. A minimal amount of these funds are used for administrative costs.
