Best Drug Rehabilitation Sponsors "Music With A Mission" Charity Concert to Support Music Education
Mendon, Illinois (PRWEB) July 14, 2015 -- The Adams County Fairgrounds saw the return of the “Music With A Mission” benefit concert, held on May 30th, 2015 to raise funds which will provide financial assistance to underfunded local school systems and promote music education in students. Mendon, IL, where the fairgrounds are located, and the neighboring town of Quincy have seen cuts in spending over the past few years that have caused a shortfall in financing for music education, among other academic, arts and athletics programs. Best Drug Rehabilitation also returned this year as a sponsor of this event and adding to the funds that were raised by ticket sales and concessions, money that will go to these underfunded programs.

The Music with a Mission Event
Hundreds of people attended the “Music With A Mission” event, which featured performances by several contemporary country-rock stars, including Madd Hoss Jackson, Highway Run, Trailer Choir, Avenue Beat, and Cadillac Three. “Big Vinny” Hickerson of Trailer Choir was one of the lead organizers behind the concert, and he has expressed his desire to step away from the traditional fundraising efforts seen by most school districts, such as bake sales or raffles. The success of last year’s event made it evident that this idea is a winner, and the 2015 concert raised thousands of dollars to help provide those much-needed funds to Mendon and West Illini schools.
Although rain over the few days before the concert had turned much of the Adams County Fairgrounds into a mud pit, concertgoers were not swayed from attending, and the concert was moved to the interior of the Show Barn to avoid the less than ideal conditions outside. In an interview with local news channel KHQA 7, Vinny Hickerson shared his philosophy on music education, saying, “Schools don’t focus enough on music. Music is a universal language. No matter what, when you hear a tune, regardless of what language you speak, you know it’s a tune. Not everybody is creative in that way, but I think, for those kids that are, they should have that option.”
