Best-selling Christian Author Karen Kingsbury Visits Liberty University
Lynchburg, VA (PRWEB) February 26, 2014 -- America’s top author of Christian fiction Karen Kingsbury told students in Liberty University’s Convocation on Wednesday that it isn’t about the books she is writing now that are the most important, but the fact that “we can use the days of our lives to write a story that will change the world.”
Kingsbury has written over 50 books that have made it to the top of The New York Times’ best-sellers list. She is also a public speaker, reaching more than 100,000 women annually through various national events. Kingsbury last spoke at Liberty in 2011, but she has been a friend of the university for many years. In a brief interview before Convocation, she said she always enjoys coming back to visit “Heaven’s university.”
“I am so excited that God has poured out His blessings on Liberty. This is a school that follows the Lord, prays daily, administrators pray for the students, and the students are here because they desire to go out and change the world after they graduate,” Kingsbury said.
Kingsbury also commented on the new Jerry Falwell Library and the campus growth she has been following.
“Liberty students have sent me Instagram and Twitter pictures of my books on the shelves in the library, and I was absolutely blown away by the beautiful structure, and their excitement over reading my books,” she said.
Kingsbury’s son, Tyler, is a Liberty graduate. She also has a nephew currently attending Liberty. Her son-in-law, alumnus Kyle Kupecky, a Christian recording artist, sang the special music before her message on Wednesday.
Kingsbury began by telling students that we only get one chance to take the “finite number of pages in our stories” and write a story that will impact the world.
“At the end of my days, I do not want people to look at me and say, ‘Wow, you are a great storyteller.’ I want them to look at me and say I wrote a great story with the days of my life,” Kingsbury said.
Using personal anecdotes from her own family life and from her success in the publishing industry, she told students how they can follow three main points to write their own life stories: “love well,” “laugh often,” and “look for the miraculous.”
She called Liberty students “the best of the best.”
“I am so excited to be here with you because God is going to use you to change the world; I have no doubt about that. You are the hope for this nation, for this generation, and for the globe,” she said.
Students had a chance to meet Kingsbury later in the day, as she signed copies of her books at Liberty University’s Barnes and Noble bookstore.
