Best Stroller Review Awards Announced by BabyGearLab.com for 2014
Cheyenne, WY (PRWEB) November 30, 2013 -- Baby product test-based review site BabyGearLab.com today announced the results of its 2014 Best Stroller awards. BabyGearLab testers put the top 21 products through an extensive 6 month testing process to determine the winners. All the products were tested side-by-side, and with used extensively infants and toddlers of different ages. The following performance metrics were included in the rating system: ease-of-use, maneuverability, safety, quality/durability, weight/folded-size, and ease-of-set-up. The award winning products are listed below:
• Editors’ Choice Awards for Best Overall was a tie, with two products receiving the award: the UPPAbaby Vista and the BOB Revolution SE. "The UPPAbaby Vista was one of the more expensive products in our test, but it impressed us with pragmatic performance. We loved the attention to detail in the UPPAbaby. It was clear that its designers had spent a long time looking at products like the Bugaboo Cameleon and others, with an intention of outperforming those high-end products, and in our opinion they succeeded," said BabyGearLab founder, Dr. Juliet Spurrier. "The BOB Revolution SE impressed us because it was an underdog. As a jogging stroller, it is burdened with the extra bulk and weight of added suspension and bigger wheels required for running. And yet, we’d known that it was very popular for every day use, not just for jogging, and we were curious to see how it would compare if we ignored the running capability and just looked at it side-by-side with other standard-sized products on every day tasks. We never expected it would perform so well on our tests. In the end, it earned a higher performance score than any other product in our test."
• Best Value Awards were given to two products, both priced well under $200, the Graco LiteRider and the Baby Trend Expedition. "The Graco LiteRider impressed us on a price-performance basis. It placed above-average in most scoring categories, yet was the lowest cost product of 21 in our test," said Dr. Spurrier. "The fact that it outperformed so many products costing hundreds of dollars more impressed us. The same can be said for the Baby Trend Expedition, which at $130 street price is much less than competitors it outscored in our tests. For the parent on a tight budget, yet looking for the best for their baby, these two products stand out as worthy of consideration."
• Top Pick for Light and Compact was awarded to the Britax B-Agile. "Lifting is just painful after giving birth. Taking a heavy strolling product in and out of the car is not easy after birth, and a burden for every parent later," commented Dr. Spurrier. "The B-Agile impressed us on both weight, at less than 17 lbs, and folded size. For the person looking for something light and/or compact, it was our top pick."
• Top Pick for Style and Innovation was award to the Stokke Xplory. "Industrial design sometimes follows style more than the pragmatic, and can leave a lot of people with more pragmatic sensibilities feeling put off," said Dr. Spurrier. "But, the Xplory was the execption to the rule. We found their design to be both compelling visually, and pragmatic in day-to-day use. For example, the Stokke is unique in placing baby at table height. This makes it easy to go to a café or dinner with baby, leaving baby at perfect height for feeding and eye contact. No competing product could match the Xplory in that regard."
