Better Than Barbie: Hillary Clinton Action Figure Takes Her Campaign to Kickstarter
Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) March 10, 2015 -- If a Brooklyn toy company gets their way, Barbie is about to get a run for her money from a surprising new rival - Hillary Clinton.
The Hillary Clinton Action Figure launched as a Kickstarter campaign this week and is already well on its way to becoming a reality.
In just six days the miniature Hillary Clinton has racked up over $8000 in funding after some high profile tweets and a feature in Mashable drew attention from the techie crowd.
FCTRY, the company behind the Hillary Action Figure is not surprised by Hillary's instant success on Kickstarter. They are the same people who made the Obama Action Figure in 2008 and they followed that product's formula for success.
“Our goal was simply to create an awesome, iconic action figure, more in the spirit of Star Wars”, says Jason Feinberg of FCTRY. "We knew there would be plenty of demand for a Hillary Clinton Action Figure. if it was done well."
“Hillary Clinton has millions of very passionate supporters, from all sorts of backgrounds. Those are the people we made this for.”
The Hillary Action Figure is the first toy to authentically celebrate the traits that define Hillary.
"She's not a doll," notes Feinberg. "She's an Action Figure and there's a good reason why. Dolls like Barbie have a long history of sending out the wrong message to girls. Hillary Clinton is the antidote to that message and this toy was designed to reflect that."
The team at FCTRY thinks they have a hit on their hands. It's hard to bet against them considering their track record. Their Obama Action Figure grossed over a million dollars in 2008 while his real-life counterpart went on to take the White House.
"We think that the Hillary Action Figure could do twice that, given how much momentum she has right now", says Feinberg.
We will soon find out if the world agrees. The Kickstarter campaign ends on April 7.
If it reaches its funding target of $15,000 by then, the Hillary Clinton Action Figure will hit store shelves by this summer, well in time for next year's elections.
