BGSO To Host Million Man March Film & Panel Discussion
Washington, DC (PRWEB) January 08, 2015 -- The Black Graduate Student Organization of Carnegie-Mellon University and the Washington, DC Ministry of Arts and Culture Present: “The Million Man March – The Untold Story” Film Screening and Discussion.
The choking death of Eric Garner, the shooting deaths of Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown and the near-death shooting of Leon Ford of Pittsburgh are just a few of the incidents that have sparked outrage among students and community leaders around the country, with some saying that this is a war on young black men.
Minister Farrakhan also called The Million Man March “our response to this war that has been ongoing since the Reagan/Bush years in the White House.”
Now, in 2015, what are the next steps? What should we do? Please join the BGSO of Carnegie-Mellon University, Paradise Gray of X-Clan & 1Hood, Student Minister Victor Muhammad of Muhammad Mosque #22 and other student & community leaders in screening this timely film and in discussing how we can use the lessons learned from the Million Man March to address the current themes of #HandsUpDontShoot, #ICantBreathe, #BlackLivesMatter, #MillionManMarch and #JusticeForLeon in an effective manner.
