Bielat Santore & Company - Eye On The Shore
Allenhurst, NJ (PRWEB) August 15, 2013 -- It would take a lot more than prayer to help this battered waterfront restaurant after Hurricane Sandy made its mark 10 months ago on the Jersey Shore. The town favorite, JakeaBob’s Bay, located in Union Beach, NJ, was damaged so severely from the storm that it left owner, Gigi Liaguno-Dorr deciding on whether to rebuild or close its doors forever. When Rabbi David Mason and Pastor Carl Williamson visited the Jersey Shore to aide in the construction of destroyed homes and businesses, JakeaBob’s Bay became their priority.
JakeaBob’s Bay was a customary restaurant to dine at for many locals, where guests would be served by familiar faces and the owner genuinely cared about her customers. Employing two-thirds of its staff from the Union Beach community, JakeaBob’s Bay was forced to close after the hurricane causing those residents to lose their jobs. During rebuilding, a temporary JakeaBob’s Bay inlet restaurant was built in April called JakeaBob’s Off the Bay until reconstruction is complete. The stand in JakeaBob’s Bay, as a tribute to the town pre-Sandy, collected doors from Union Beach’s wreckage to be used as tabletops and dividers at the restaurant. Many of the walls contained uplifting inspirational quotes.
Rabbi Mason and Pastor Williamson have collaborated to help Liaguno-Dorr in the refurbishing of JakeaBob’s Bay. Williamson has established a non-profit organization and Mason is trying to raise a $10,000 rebuilding grant for JakeaBob’s Bay’s reconstruction through his website, CabinetHardware.org. Ten percent of all purchases on the site will be donated to the JakeaBob’s Bay’s reconstruction fund. The project must receive 100 or more votes to qualify for assistance.
