Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona Select Symmetry Software's Jon Bohnert as New Board Chair
Scottsdale, Ariz. (PRWEB) July 01, 2016 -- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona (BBBSAZ) elected Jon Bohnert as its new chairman of the board of directors last Tuesday. Bohnert, president of Scottsdale-based payroll tax solutions company Symmetry Software, has been a proud board member of BBBSAZ since 2011.
“I am thrilled to be working with Jon Bohnert as our new Board Chair for the next two years. As a long time board member, Jon knows the agency well and he is determined to help me take it to the next level so we can serve more kids in our community,” said BBBSAZ President and CEO Laura Capello.
BBBSAZ helps nurture children and strengthen communities through one-to-one relationships. Bohnert considers acting as a mentor to young people and helping them achieve their dreams as one of his favorite accomplishments within the organization. Over 1,200 kids are mentored throughout the valley, and Bohnert has been a positive adult role model to several as a Big Brother. He’s served on various board committees and attends countless events, surpassing fundraising goals and showing excellent spirit– particularly with BBBSAZ’s signature event “Bowl for Kids.” Bohnert won this year’s goofiest costume in the annual event’s contest.
“I am honored and humbled at the same time as being energized,” said Bohnert. “We have a lot of work to do. We still have a waiting list of over 300 kids who want a Big Brother or Big Sister. I look forward to working to help strengthen the organization so that no child has to wait for a Big Sister or Big Brother.”
Bohnert has over 25 years of experience contributing to different types of organizations, from large to small, and public to private, skills Capello says will help challenge BBBSAZ’s leadership to continually better the agency. His leadership has already been instrumental to both BBBSAZ and Symmetry Software. Bohnert graduated in 1983 from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business. He’s traveled the country as an accomplished speaker, and specializes in senior management, team building and leadership.
