Big Moon Rising Music Festival Brings the Funk to Big Sky Resort
Big Sky, MT (PRWEB) July 23, 2014 -- Big Sky Resort gets funky for their annual Labor Day music festival newly named, Big Moon Rising, August 29-31, 2014 featuring The Family Stone and presented by Lehrkinds Coca-Cola Bottling Company.
Bring on the funk kicks off Friday, August 29th on the main Mountain Village stage with opening act Andrew Gromiller and the Organically Grown with their vocal-powered rhythm and blues mixed into some serious funk and soul. Then Dumpstaphunk busts on stage for an unforgettable live performance steeped in hard-hitting New Orleans groove featuring Ivan Neville on vocals, B3 and Clav, the double bass attack and soulful voices of Tony Hall and Nick Daniels III, Ian Neville on guitar, and the monster addition of Nikki Glaspie on drums and vocals. Boogie into Whiskey Jack’s for the after party with Cure for the Common armed with an arsenal of original funk rock tunes.
Shake off the funk on Saturday morning, August 30th with the Big Moon Rising 5k trail challenge where the fastest male and female win a 50 dollar gift card. Starting at noon, kids take over the plaza enjoying free miniature golf, bounce house, face painting and scavenger hunt. All basecamp activities will be in full swing and live music tops off the day in the main plaza.
Saturday night explodes as Keller Williams with More Than A Little heat up the stage with their acoustic dance music also known as “jazzfunkraggaelectronicagrass” that leaves no one in their seats. Bringing down the moon is The Family Stone with founding members and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees saxophonist Jerry Martini, trumpeter Cynthia Robinson and drummer Greg Errico, bringing back the “golden era of psychedelic soul” with high energy and show stopping performance with incredible additions of bassist Blaise Sison, lead guitarist Nate Wingfield, the strong vocals of Nadia, and keyboardist/vocalist Alex Davis. It’s time to get funky. The fun continues with an after party at Whiskey Jack’s.
Winding down the weekend is a hearty brunch on Sunday, August 31st at the Peaks Terrace with live music.
