Big Nerd Ranch Training Advances Mobile Technology in Healthcare

The iPhone app, called Diabetes Consult, was created in collaboration with a medical team at Duke University and provides physicians with the same valuable information endocrinologists use to treat their diabetic patients.
With the tap of a button, the app gives doctors guidance on insulin dosing and adjustments, diabetes management protocols and care recommendations. The cutting-edge app forges a new path in healthcare, using information provided and kept up-to-date by top-level endocrinologists. Using Diabetes Consult, physicians are given more time to spend with patients to discuss their condition in depth.
“It’s amazing to be part of this project,” Jamie says. “It allows me to take what I learned at Big Nerd Ranch and make the lives of patients and their families better and safer.”
After attending the Beginning iOS, Advanced iOS and Beginning iOS Game Development bootcamps, Jamie was prepared to build apps that help patients and their doctors. He attributes his success to Big Nerd Ranch’s immersive training and the retreat-style setting of the Ranch locations.
