Bigger, Better Gander Mountain Coming to Cedar Rapids In 2017

In the spring of 2017, the community will get a bigger and better retail experience from Gander Mountain as it expands its presence in Cedar Rapids with a new, significantly larger store.

The new 52,000-square-foot Gander Mountain store will be the anchor of the new Northtowne Market shopping center – a 35-acre, mixed-use commercial development bounded by Blairs Ferry to the north, Council Street to the west and Rockwell Drive to the east. The community’s current Gander Mountain store, which is located in southwest Cedar Rapids, opened in 2000 and has 31,080 square feet of retail space.

Cedar Rapids developer Hunter Companies is overseeing redevelopment of the property it acquired in late 2014 and revitalizing it after decades of industrial use. Construction is already underway on several buildings in addition to the Gander Mountain building.
