Bilingual Giraffe Teaches Kids the Importance of Listening to Adults
MIAMI (PRWEB) January 07, 2016 -- Hiding it in applesauce, “flying” it into their mouth or even the Mary Poppins’ favorite, disguising it in a spoonful of sugar — getting children to take their medicine can be nearly impossible.
In her new book, Geraldine the Giraffe, author Hymara Hernández provides parents with a tool to help teach their children the importance of following the doctor’s orders, including taking medicine, to stay healthy.
“There is nothing better in life than making a child smile,” Hernández said. “If I can help their parents and doctors keep them healthy and keep smiles on their faces with Geraldine’s story, then I have succeeded.”
In addition to the healthy message the book promotes, Geraldine the Giraffe is a handy way for children to learn Spanish or English. With both languages side by side, the book allows readers to easily teach themselves without the need for a translator or bilingual dictionary.
“I can’t stress enough the importance of learning a second language,” Hernández said. “Besides being able to communicate with more of your neighbors and being more marketable professionally, people who are bilingual are better problem solvers and can more easily multitask.”
