Bird Rock Coffee Roasters Hosts First-Time San Diego Event “Meet the Coffee Grower”
La Jolla, Calif. (PRWEB) August 20, 2015 -- Bird Rock Coffee Roasters is hosting a first-of-its-kind “Meet the Coffee Grower” event in San Diego on Saturday, August 22, 2015. Anny Ruth Pimentel, owner of Finca Loma La Gloria farm in El Salvador is one of Bird Rock Coffee Roasters’ direct trade coffee partners. Her visit is part of Bird Rock Coffee Roasters commitment to supporting farmers through direct trade, unique compensation models, and helping farmers optimize their crops for quality coffee with the end product in mind.
Owner of Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, Chuck Patton, and Anny will talk with attendees about direct trade relationships and how growers can produce high quality and award-winning coffee. Anny will talk about her farm in El Salvador, located on the slopes of San Salvador volcano with an elevation of 1400-2000 meters, and her efforts to become one of the best farms in Central America.
"The trip to Bird Rock Coffee Roasters has been invaluable and overwhelmingly positive,” said Anny Ruth Pimentel, owner of Finca Loma La Gloria farm in El Salvador. “It is exciting to see the coffee movement in action and to watch the operational side. I am a meticulous farmer, and Chuck takes it to another level. I was treated like a celebrity when I arrived at the café, and it was quite an experience to cup my own coffee. I will be bringing many insights back to my farm that will help improve our next crops.”
The event is free and open to the public, and will be held at both Bird Rock Coffee locations on Saturday, August 22, 2015:
10:00 AM-11:00 AM
Little Italy
2295 Kettner Blvd
San Diego, CA 92101
12:00 PM-1:00 PM
Bird Rock
5627 La Jolla Blvd
La Jolla, CA 92037
There will be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and to try free samples of Finca Loma La Gloria coffee. Not only is the Finca Loma La Gloria a crowd pleaser at Bird Rock Coffee Roasters but also an impressive performer in the industry: It received a 94 out of 100 score from Coffee Review, one of the highest scores ever awarded to a coffee from El Salvador.
“We are so excited to have Anny come to San Diego and meet with our community, since we are bringing customers that much closer to our coffee growers” said Chuck Patton, owner of Bird Rock Coffee Roasters. “Not only is it important that farm owners experience the entire journey of their coffee beans from farm to cup, but also that consumers understand the level of complexity involved in what goes into their morning coffee. I hope our relationships with farmers continue to develop further into these types of interactions which are so meaningful to farmers, roasters and customers.”
The Finca Loma La Gloria Red Bourbon varietal is available on line or in retail stores for $18.99 (12 oz). More information about the event can be found at http://www.birdrockcoffee.com.
