Bishop Gregory Palmer and Dr. Charles Booth Featured at Dayton, OH Seminary
Dayton, OH (PRWEB) January 21, 2016 -- Bishop Gregory Palmer of the Ohio West Area of The United Methodist Church (UMC), and Dr. Charles Booth, senior pastor of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Columbus, OH, are featured speakers at United Theological Seminary’s Doctor of Ministry Intensive, taking place Jan. 25–29 in Dayton, OH. Worship and plenary sessions, focused on the topic “Racial Justice and Reconciliation,” are open to the public.
Intensive Week activities will begin with Bishop Palmer preaching at an opening worship service at 7 p.m. on Jan. 25 at Precious Blood Catholic Church, 4961 Salem Ave.
Bishop Palmer was elected to the episcopacy in 2000, and has served the Ohio West Area of The UMC since 2012. From 2004 to 2008, he served as President of the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry, an agency of The UMC. He also served as President of the United Methodist Council of Bishops from 2008 to 2010. Bishop Palmer holds an undergraduate degree from George Washington University, Washington, D.C., and a Master of Divinity from Duke University Divinity School, Durham, NC.
On Wednesday, Jan. 27, Dr. Booth will lead evening worship at 6:45 p.m. at the Dayton Marriott Hotel, 1414 S. Patterson Blvd.
In addition to serving as senior pastor of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Dr. Booth is a fully affiliated Professor of Homiletics at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, OH. He has received multiple awards for his commitments to community service and educational issues, including the 2014 Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award from the Columbus Ohio Education Association. In 1990, Dr. Booth received his Doctor of Ministry from United Theological Seminary, and he currently sits on the Seminary’s Board of Trustees.
