Black Bear Diner Guests Save a Lot of Room for Wishes During Annual Make-A-Wish® Fundraiser
Redding, California (PRWEB) January 29, 2015 -- Black Bear Diner is proud to announce that with the help of its loyal guests, it raised $211,381 for Make-A-Wish® during the eighth annual “Save Room For A Wish®” dessert fundraising campaign held from December 1 – 31, 2014. The money raised supports Make-A-Wish in granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. The fundraising total eclipses Black Bear Diner’s previous campaign record of $202,200 set in 2013.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of our Black Bear Diner guests that participated,” said Bob Manley, co-founder of Black Bear Diner. “They played a huge role in ultimately bringing hope and positivity to children during incredibly difficult times, and we applaud and thank them for their compassion.”
The idea to raise funds for Make-A-Wish was sparked by a Black Bear Diner franchisee in 2006, soon morphing into a company-wide, month-long initiative that engages the eligible Black Bear Diner restaurants to raise money for Make-A-Wish during the month of December. To participate in the “Save Room For A Wish®” dessert fundraiser, guests simply had to save a little room for a special dessert. For each dessert item ordered, Black Bear Diner donated $1 to Make-A-Wish. Guests could also purchase a $1 or $5 wish star.
“Our entire Black Bear Diner family – from the corporate team to our guests – gets behind this initiative,” said Bruce Dean, co-founder of Black Bear Diner. “We’re thrilled to have an alliance with Make-A-Wish and to help support them in their very special mission.”
Since 2006, Black Bear Diner has raised a total of more than $960,000 for Make-A-Wish. The chain plans to eclipse the $1 million mark in 2015.
