WestLake Village, CA (PRWEB) January 16, 2014 -- The Telecom Expense Management Industry Association (TEMIA), an authoritative voice for Telecommunications Management, Telecom Expense Management (TEM), Wireless Expense Management (WEM), Mobile Device Management (MDM), Managed Mobility Services (MMS), Mobile Application Management (MAM), Mobile Security, service management; help desk support and solutions providers in related areas has published a new report on best practices for organizations that are transitioning employees mobile devices. The report, titled BlackBerry Concerns Dial up Bigger Issues for Enterprises, is available online for free from the TEMIA website at http://www.temia.org/resources/download-reports.

In a surprising twist, TEMIA members have identified a bigger issue that all enterprises must face. In the past, IT departments could rely on an orderly transition as they moved from one technology to the next. With the mobile market, shorter device replacement cycles and relentless change have created a volatile environment in which handset makers and other providers of mobile technology can quickly go out of business. Today, enterprises must develop plans to address these disruptions.

Ralph A. Rodriguez, New Technologies and Associates Chairman and CEO, said, “Organizations that are most affected by transitions include those in the legal, healthcare, and government sectors. Their employees share common characteristics with access to highly sensitive information, strong policy and government regulations for data privacy and security, and harsh consequences and penalties for data breaches. We often use device upgrade eligibility to control costs when our clients transition to a new device technology or platform. For example, we were able to migrate from BlackBerry to iOS for 90% of the end users for one of our clients through methodical tracking of upgrade eligible mobile numbers and the use of our “buddy upgrade” process. The result was a cost savings of nearly a quarter of a million dollars versus the purchase of devices at standard price.”
