BLE and U.S. Smoke & Fire Receives International Code Council (ICC) ES Report for AC77
Reston, VA (PRWEB) September 30, 2013 -- The International Code Council (ICC) has awarded BLE an Evaluation Service Report (ES-R) for Acceptance Criteria 77 “Smoke Containment Systems.” The new Evaluation Service Report ESR- 3322 verifies that the SD60GS smoke curtain systems U.S. Smoke & Fire offers are compliant with the International Building Code (IBC).
The U.S. Smoke & Fire™-BLE SD60GS is a vertically rolling smoke containment system used in conjunction with fire-resistance-rated elevator hoistway door and frame assemblies or in elevator lobbies to provide a smoke and draft control assembly.
When installed over elevator openings equipped with a fire-resistance-rated elevator hoistway door and frame assembly, the system is intended for use as an alternative to the requirement for a separated enclosed elevator lobby in accordance with Exception 3 of 2012 IBC Section 713.14.1, 2009 IBC Section 708.14.1 and 2006 IBC Section 707.14.1.
When installed away from elevator openings at the intersection of the elevator lobby and a corridor or a fire-resistance-rated corridor, the SD60GS is intended for use as an alternative to the requirement for a protective opening in smoke partitions to separate the lobby in accordance with Exception 5 of 2012 IBC Section 713.14.1, 2009 IBC Section 708.14.1 and 2006 IBC Section 707.14.1.
The ICC evaluates building products and publishes a report on the product for the public. The report presents the findings of ICC-ES of product compliance with building code requirements. Architects, specification writers, engineers and contractors use the ICC-ES to determine if a product meets all applicable building and county codes. The ICC Evaluation Service is an evaluation committee comprised of code officials who volunteer their time three times a year to consider criteria of a product’s acceptance.
