Blinds Supermarket unwraps the rising cost of Christmas
(PRWEB UK) 16 December 2014 -- The cost of Christmas dinner is soaring, according to new findings made by budget retailer Blinds Supermarket.
Over the last six years, the price of sprouts, potatoes, stuffing, Christmas pudding and frozen turkey at the big four supermarkets has shot up from £18.81 to £27.40. That’s a wallet-wobbling 46% increase!
Fortunately, the made-to-measure blinds specialist found some respite from rising prices. The cost of parsnips, peas and carrots has actually gone down by 26%.
Paul Bostock, community manager at Blinds Supermarket, says: "There has definitely been a big rise in the cost of Christmas dinner. And that might mean certain foods are off this year’s menu, which could be good news for sprout haters".
"But if shoppers act smart, then they should still be able to fill up on festive foods without emptying their wallet."
