Blindsgalore Awards Student with American Business Women's Association Scholarship
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) September 23, 2016 -- Blindsgalore the women-owned e-commerce leader in custom window covers, blinds and shades, has awarded University of West Florida Master’s student Kayla Hamel of Pace, FL with an annual $2,000 scholarship, in the name of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) Scholarship Fund.
This year’s scholarship essay topic asked applicants to describe their most valued item. Hamel, who is currently a 5th grade teacher studying for her Master’s Degree in Reading, discussed a simple fishing pole that taught her some of life’s most valuable lessons.
“I learned that paying attention to even the smallest things could make the difference in major events,” wrote Hamel of her fishing pole in her essay. She continued, “I also learned to slow down and wait for the right opportunity. If you feel a tug and set the line too early you will jerk the hook out of the fish’s mouth. If you set the hook too late, the fish will have time to wrap your line around a log and still getaway. This takes a lot of patience and perseverance, but when you finally catch your fish it is always worth it.”

Hamel plans to use the funds to help pay for her remaining year in the Master’s reading program.
