Blue Rose Ball Featuring John Oates, Holly Williams & Special Guests Set for Saturday, June 13 at Sebastiani Theatre
Sonoma, CA (PRWEB) May 29, 2015 -- The Blue Rose Ball came together in June of 2014 as a way of honoring the spirit and life of Sonoma friend Joe Capone by establishing a scholarship fund in his name at Sonoma’s Old Adobe School. The event raised over $25,000, enough to fund five half-day, year-round preschool scholarships.
John Oates is half of one of rock's most successful duos, Hall & Oates, as well as an accomplished solo artist. A member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and BMI Icon, he has sold over 80 million albums. In 2014, he (along with Daryl Hall) was inducted in to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and released his fifth solo album, Good Road To Follow.
Part of the key to Holly Williams’ success as a singer-songwriter is that it’s never been her mission to try and live up to the legacy cast by her famous and prolific father and grandfather – Hank Jr. and Sr., respectively – nor has she spent a lot of time trying to live it down. The respect that Holly has garnered as an artist over the course of many years spent building an international fan base has come on her own terms, based on her own sound.
The Blue Rose Foundation believes that equal access to resources starts children on an early pathway to success, and strengthens our families and communities. By awarding preschool scholarships to children from economically disadvantaged families, BRF fosters a life-long love of learning and provide children with the tools to reach their full potential.

Through the support of the Blue Rose Ball and its fundraising, the scholarships provided go directly to families in need, and have deeply affected the lives of numerous local families. One mother states: “My oldest daughter went to Old Adobe School on a scholarship. She didn’t start out on a scholarship. My husband and I had some very tough times, financially, and the scholarship fund helped us work through the difficult times. The education at Old Adobe was so great! Not only was my oldest more than prepared for elementary school academics, she was very confident that she could do it. She felt ready and knew she was smart. The social engagement she participated in every day really helped her be ready to problem-solve in a larger group. Because we had the help of the scholarship, a huge weight was lifted off my husband and me and it was one less thing to be worried about. It lent us more time to present with our children at home.”
In Sonoma County, where Blue Rose Foundation’s efforts are concentrated, approximately 15% of children live below the poverty line. Low-cost and free preschool programs are available for families in need, but demand far exceeds the supply. In 2011, there were over 100 more eligible children than there were available spaces in subsidized care programs. The Foundation aims to close that gap.
