Blue Springs Ford Hosts Charity Event Benefiting Wounded Warriors Family Support
Blue Springs, MO (PRWEB) December 19, 2013 -- Blue Springs Ford today announced its recent participation in a local charity event, in cooperation with Wounded Warriors Family Support’s Hive Five Tour of 2013. One day of the tour’s three-day stop in the Kansas City area was dedicated to a day-long fundraiser held at the Blue Springs Ford facility, and featured a car show from the Mustang Club of Greater Kansas City.
Wounded Warriors Family Support is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support to families of veterans who have been wounded, injured, or killed in combat. Its annual High Five Tour presents the opportunity for communities across the country to show appreciation for the country’s military veterans and families. The public is encouraged to visit a stop on the five-month cross-country tour, and sign the organization’s signature red, white, and blue Mustang GT500 “Super Snake” with messages of encouragement and gratitude.
This year, the High Five Tour has a specific mission in mind: raising funds to build “smart homes” for two deserving wounded warriors and their families – SFC John Masson of North Carolina, and Sgt. Rusty Dunagan of Oklahoma. One hundred percent of donations received on the High Five Tour of 2013 will be used in the construction of the two homes, which will be custom-build to provide independence and quality of life for these severely wounded veterans.
To support this remarkable cause, Blue Springs Ford offered to host the tour for a charity cookout and car show during its stop in Kansas City. The event kicked off with an extensive Mustang display, courtesy of the Mustang Club of Greater Kansas City. The cookout followed, along with the arrival of the signature High Five Tour 2013 Mustang Shelby GT500 – flanked by a Veterans Honor Guard motorcycle escort. All proceeds from the cookout were donated to Wounded Warriors Family Support, and the dealership made its own $1000 charitable donation as part of its Helping Others initiative.
“We’re honored to have been able to host a stop on this incredible tour, right here at Blue Springs Ford,” said Bob Balderston, President of Blue Springs Ford. “It’s so important that we, as a community, take the time to thank and honor the veterans who have sacrificed so much for our great country. We hope to see Wounded Warriors Family Support back in Kansas City next year.”
