Bluefin Payment Systems Introduces the Only PCI-Validated Point-to-Point Encryption (P2PE) Solution for Small to Medium-Sized Businesses in the US and Canada
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) July 09, 2014 -- Bluefin Payment Systems, the leading financial technology provider of secure payment solutions, announced today that their PCI-validated PayConex™ Point-to-Point Encryption (P2PE) Solution is now available through the company’s Virtual Terminal product. This provides access for every business in North America to a PCI-validated P2PE Solution.
Bluefin’s PayConex Virtual Terminal turns any computer into an enhanced credit card terminal. Businesses simply plug a lightweight card reader into the computer’s USB port, swipe the credit card, and the transaction is securely processed using the businesses’ existing Internet connection – eliminating the need for a point-of-sale swipe terminal and expensive dial-up connections.
In March 2014, Bluefin introduced the first, and to date the only PCI-validated P2PE Solution in North America. PayConex P2PE secures transactions by encrypting all data within a PCI-approved point of entry device, so that clear-text cardholder is not available in the device or the merchant’s system where it could be exposed to malware.
“By integrating our PCI-validated P2PE Solution with our PayConex Virtual Terminal, we are providing businesses of all sizes the highest level of breach security available today in a turnkey solution,” said Ruston Miles, Chief Innovation Officer, Bluefin.
“Data breaches are rampant and they show no signs of stopping. And it’s not just large retailers – a 2013 report found that 55% of small businesses have had a data breach and 53% of those businesses had multiple breaches,” Miles added. “Our virtual terminal P2PE product encrypts all sensitive data in the point of entry device so that if a merchant’s system or computer was breached, there would be no clear-text card data available to malware or hackers.”
The PayConex P2PE Virtual Terminal product interfaces with the ID Tech SREDKey, which has both a keypad and a magstripe reader, making it a perfect solution for card not present (CNP) environments such as call centers as well as card present (CP) retail environments. For merchants that prefer a swipe-only version, the ID Tech SecuRED version is available. Neither hardware option requires local software or special drivers to be installed. Both options work seamlessly with modern operating systems such as Windows and Mac OS.
“The beauty of the virtual terminal is that you can securely process payments anytime, anywhere. It is an excellent solution for any small or medium-sized business seeking to replace their traditional point-of-sale dialup or wireless terminal, regardless of whether they take payments over the phone, in person, or through the mail,” said Miles. “And when used in conjunction with our QuickSwipe mobile POS system or a laptop, small businesses can take payments anywhere they are face-to-face with their customers.”
In addition to Bluefin’s Virtual Terminal, PayConex P2PE is also available as a standalone gateway solution for major retailers and franchises, and through the Salesforce AppExchange PayConex payment app. In Q3, Bluefin will introduce the first PCI-validated mobile P2PE Solution through the company’s QuickSwipe mobile POS system.
