BlumShapiro Selected as 2015 Business Champion for Community Involvement
West Hartford, Connecticut (PRWEB) June 04, 2015 -- BlumShapiro, the largest New England-based business advisory firm, today announced it has been selected to receive a 2015 Business Champions Award for its work in community involvement.
The annual Business Champions Awards, produced in partnership by the MetroHartford Alliance and Hartford Business Journal, celebrates the achievements of the greater Hartford region’s privately held companies in several areas.
“Community involvement is at the core of everything we do at BlumShapiro,” said Carl Johnson, BlumShapiro Firm Managing Partner. “This award is a testament to the thousands of volunteer hours donated by hundreds of our BlumShapiro employees throughout Connecticut. We do it to make our communities better-better places to live and to work. I accept this prestigious award on behalf of all the employees of BlumShapiro.”
BlumShapiro employees serve as board members and in top leadership roles in over 130 organizations, including the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut, American Red Cross, World Affairs Council, Greater Hartford Arts Council, Boys and Girls Club and Habitat for Humanity.
In addition, BlumShapiro actively leads several annual, community-based programs.
For three consecutive years, the firm has led the collection, packing and distribution of Thanksgiving Day meals to more than 2,000 families and seniors in New Haven through the BlumShapiro Thanksgiving Food Basket Campaign for Christian Community Action.
In May of this year, the company hosted the BlumShapiro 5K for Camp Courant at the Travelers Championship for the seventh consecutive year. The money raised benefits Hartford’s Camp Courant, which helps provide a wonderful summer experience for more than 1,000 Hartford children.
Also in May, dozens of BlumShapiro employees spend the entire day teaching the fundamentals of financial literacy to hundreds of elementary school students at Webster Hill School in West Hartford in a six-year partnership with Junior Achievement (JA). BlumShapiro has also partnered with JA to create and co-host the JA Career Walk, providing West Hartford high school students the opportunity to see the real world of business by visiting firms in their hometown throughout West Hartford Center.
And this summer, the company will host the second annual BlumShapiro Golf Classic, a sold-out tournament benefiting the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund for students pursuing business degrees.
The 2015 Business Champions Award for Community Involvement was presented to BlumShapiro at an awards breakfast today at the Connecticut Convention Center.
