Board of Directors Approve Quarter Schedule for iSucceed Virtual High School
Boise, Idaho (PRWEB) June 17, 2015 -- iSucceed Virtual High School’s board of directors approved a new quarter schedule on Thursday, June 11, allowing the school to transition to open enrollment throughout the school year. The new schedule was approved by the state earlier this month and became official with the board’s approval.
Students at iSucceed will take on an average of three courses every nine weeks through the quarter schedule, effective Aug. 2015. With the new curriculum, students in Idaho will be able to enroll at iSucceed throughout the school year with no waiting list, compared to the 47 brick and mortar charter schools in Idaho with a total of 11,000 students on waiting list, according to the Idaho Department of Education.
With the end of a wait list at iSucceed, Principal Katie Allison said that the school’s quarter schedule is a model that will better cater to students’ educational needs.
“We are proud to offer an opportunity that better meets student needs,” said Allison. “iSucceed’s quarter schedule offers an exciting option in the charter school landscape, which allows for a wider range of choices for Idaho students.
Holly, instructor and school leadership member at iSucceed, has been a strong advocate of the quarter schedule, and said its implementation will allow students to catch up on credits or accelerate their educational progress, as well as better focus on their courses.
“Having three or four courses at a time, instead of six or seven, will help our students master the material and improve their performance. They will be able to fill missing credits and catch up if they have failed courses in the past, as well as take advantage of more electives and possibly accelerating their progress toward graduation.”
iSucceed Virtual High School, Inc. is an Idaho public charter online high school, opened in 2008 as an Idaho nonprofit corporation by a group of concerned parents and community members who wanted to provide an opportunity for all students in Idaho to obtain a quality high school education.
