McDonald was elected to serve in the prestigious positon of Justice of the New York State Supreme Court – winning one of seven open seats.
Bob McDonald has been an instrumental part of New York’s legal community for more than 30 years, and has built a strong reputation as one of New York’s most highly regarded criminal defense attorneys. As one of the firm’s founding partners, McDonald has played a vital role in helping to grow Collins, McDonald & Gann into one of Long Island’s most well-known and respected criminal defense law firms. McDonald will be beginning this distinguished new chapter of his law career as he becomes part of the New York State Supreme Court on January 1st.

With decades of experience successfully navigating the New York criminal justice system, McDonald has served both as a Nassau County Assistant District Attorney and, for the past 25 years, as a criminal defense attorney at Collins, McDonald & Gann. He has also served for several years as Special Prosecutor for the Town of North Hempstead and sits on the Grievance Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association, reviewing issues of legal competence and professional conduct regarding other lawyers in the 10th Judicial District. In addition to his longtime reputation as one of the most experienced criminal trial lawyers on Long Island, McDonald also is a leader in local politics and has served as First Vice Chairman of the Nassau Democratic Party.
As McDonald prepares to assume his role as a New York State Supreme Court Justice on January 1st, the firm is preparing to launch a number of exciting additions and a move into new practice areas in 2016.
