Bob Woodruff Foundation Welcomes Newly-Formed Leadership Council
New York, NY (PRWEB) July 02, 2015 -- The Bob Woodruff Foundation, a nonprofit focused on meeting the needs of post-9/11 injured veterans and their families, is pleased to announce the establishment of its Leadership Council.
The council is comprised of leaders from diverse areas of influence, including defense, media, healthcare, philanthropy, business, and government.
“This is a select group of leaders and shareholders who share a passionate commitment to the community that we serve,” said Anne Marie Dougherty, executive director of the Bob Woodruff Foundation. “Council members will work with the board and staff to spread awareness, broaden our resource base and provide inspirational thinking to help steer larger objectives.”
Inaugural members are:
• Dr. Rocco Armonda, director of neuroendovascular surgery, MedStar Washington Hospital Center and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital
• Gen. George Casey, former chief of staff, U.S. Army retired
• Sheila Casey, chief operating officer, The Hill
• Deanie Dempsey, military family advocate
• James Dinegar, president and CEO, Greater Washington Board of Trade
• Suni Harford, managing director and regional head of markets for North America, Citi
• L. Thomas Hiltz, attorney in private practice
• David McIntyre, president and CEO, TriWest Healthcare Alliance
• Capt. Larkin O’Hern, legislative liaison, U.S. Army
Honorary council members include former Secretary of Defense Dr. Robert Gates, television host Jon Stewart, and Alexandra Cohen, president of the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Foundation.
Beyond representing their own stakeholder group in leadership council meetings, council members will be expected to review and critique the foundation’s performance through regular progress reports.
“Each member has a unique perspective and we look forward to continually improving upon our efforts to serve our nation’s heroes,” said Dougherty.
Additionally, the leadership council will afford its members the opportunity to communicate with and learn from each other as well as the opportunity to be publicly recognized as a thought leader in an organization that attracts local, national and even international attention.
