Boehringer Ingelheim Implements Glemser Quality Management Solution for Increased Efficiency & Compliance
Bethlehem, PA (PRWEB) August 23, 2016 -- Glemser Technologies, an industry leader providing IT and compliance solutions and services essential for life science companies, today announced its recent success with client, Boehringer Ingelheim.
Boehringer Ingelheim is one of the world’s 20 leading pharmaceutical companies, family-owned and founded in 1885 in Germany. It employs more than 47,700 people on all continents and generated net sales of EUR 13,317 million in 2014.
In evaluating its quality management processes, Boehringer Ingelheim sought a new, robust system to improve the quality of its test specifications and analytical procedures. The new software system, however, had to meet a number of requirements including a non-vendor specific format, reusable documents, an XML editor and content, and a system longevity of ten years.
After interviewing 15 vendors, Glemser was selected due to its superior understanding of Boehringer Ingelheim’s needs, its XML-based approach, and its proven solution using the EMC Documentum platform, which Boehringer Ingelheim already had in-house. Just nine months later, Boehringer Ingelheim implemented and validated the proposed solution, using Glemser’s best-practice configurations and implementation accelerators for all system development life cycle deliverables.
Glemser’s winning solution included xmContent, a Documentum-based platform that provides a robust set of extensions, allowing companies to meet all applicable compliance requirements through configurable, out-of-the-box functions, integrated with Quark’s XML Author, a Microsoft Word add-in that lets anyone easily create XML in Word with no knowledge of XML and little or no training. xmContent provides the important functionality needed to comply with emerging regulations for XML-based submissions and is used in a production capacity by more than 15,000 users to manage clinical study protocols and reports, test specifications, and analytical procedures.
Today, Glemser’s solution is one of the strategic corporate systems in Quality at Boehringer Ingelheim. As a result, resources required for system maintenance were minimized while compliance is assured. Boehringer Ingelheim also achieved increased efficiency through its the ability to interface with its LIMS systems over web services. Glemser continues to maintain and support the new system, ensuring compliance with all Documentum upgrades, thus providing the longevity Boehringer Ingelheim desired.
