Book Sales Skyrocket as ICD-10-CM Deadline Nears
Spanish Fork, Utah (PRWEB) August 17, 2015 -- Medical offices and hospitals across the country have just a few weeks to prepare for the largest and most complex change in medical coding in the last 25 years. To assist physicians, coders, and billers in this transition, InstaCode Institute has written 34 new books about the ICD-10-CM code set. Each book covers ICD-10-CM codes for a specific medical specialty - everything from allergies to urology.
“These books were written by medical coders specifically for medical coders,” says InstaCode’s CEO, LaMont Leavitt. “They have many features and helps not found in any other ICD-10-CM book currently on the market.”
The books include an extensive section showing how older ICD-9 codes transfer to ICD-10 codes, as well as chapters describing the structure of the new ICD-10-CM code set, specialty specific examples of coding in ICD-10-CM, and Provider Documentation Guides.
“Our exclusive Provider Documentation Guides are designed for physicians and providers to help them transition to ICD-10,” says Aimee Wilcox, Director of Content for InstaCode. “Proper coding begins with the physician’s documentation. Some physicians will need to be more specific than they have in the past for proper coding in ICD-10-CM.”
Medicare has mandated that claims must be submitted using the ICD-10-CM codes starting October 1, 2015. Some hospitals and physicians have been preparing for the transition for years. “But many are still unprepared or are searching for additional training and guides,” says David Berky, InstaCode’s CIO. “InstaCode’s ICD-10-CM specialty books are written both as training manuals and will also function as every-day references – the dictionary, if you will, on ICD-10 coding for each specialty.”
“Customers are surprised when they receive our books,” says Dr. Evan Gwilliam, a certified ICD-10-CM trainer for InstaCode. “Many of our books are three volumes with a total of 2,100 or more pages. But with a code set of nearly 70 thousand codes, it takes a lot of pages to describe them all – at least in a font size people can actually read.”
InstaCode’s books contain ICD-10-CM codes used by each specialty along with a subset of the official index that only includes entries for the codes listed in the specialty book. Each book also has the full CDC/CMS ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.
“We’ve been very pleased with the industry’s reception of our new ICD-10-CM specialty books,” says Leavitt. “Since we started shipping all 34 books both from InstaCode.com and Amazon.com we’ve had to add staff to handle the load. That’s a good problem to have.”
InstaCode Institute based in Spanish Fork, Utah, was founded in 1995. InstaCode publishes a variety of books to assist medical offices and hospitals with coding and billing medical claims. A leader in the industry, InstaCode’s unique ICD-10-CM specialty book series is providing much needed clarification and guidance about the upcoming transition to the ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS code sets.
