Boopsie Selected for Panel of 2016 RMG’s Annual Presidents’ Seminar
Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) December 18, 2015 -- Leading mobile platform-as-a-service provider Boopsie, Inc. today announced that its President, Tony Medrano, is one of ten library industry executives selected for the panel of RMG’s 2016 Annual Presidents’ Seminar.
Annually at the ALA Midwinter Meeting, information technology consulting firm RMG Consultants, Inc. coordinates “The View from the Top,” a seminar that invites global library industry executives to discuss initiatives and trends that impact libraries. This year’s discussion, moderated by RMG President and Founder Rob McGee, will center around the theme of what’s important to library users, librarians and library vendors.
An accomplished business development and online marketing leader with over a decade of experience managing technology organizations, developing large partnerships and building high performing sales and services teams at SaaS and Internet companies, Medrano will bring insight into the mobile industry to the panel. He’ll draw on his experience as President of Boopsie as well as what he learned serving as Vice President of Business Development and General Manager at $70m Internet marketing company Reply.com; Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Field Operations at Silicon Valley venture funded SaaS company SmartDrive Systems; and Founder of the first desktop-to-mobile app platform DoDots.
“I definitely wanted Tony Medrano on the RMG Annual Presidents’ Seminar panel again. He invigorated the conversation last year, and Demco’s recent acquisition of Boopsie fits perfectly with the theme of the January 8th, 2pm 2016 RMG Seminar in Room 257B Boston Convention Center: "What's Important - to libraries, library users, your company, your owner?,” says McGee. “I look forward to hearing the story about how Demco, a Wisconsin family-owned library industry stalwart known for decades as a trusted furniture supplier, came to discover and buy Boopsie — the library industry's leading mobile app company with an impressive Silicon Valley pedigree. Let’s see what we can learn from Tony and other executives on the panel and in the audience about how their companies’ mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and changes of ownership impact what’s important to libraries. Let’s hear from people whose stewardship and decisions shape their companies’ offerings for library content and services.”
“The most successful libraries increase engagement with their community by making their library an icon on their users’ mobile device home screens,” adds Medrano. “Afterall, 68% of U.S. adults have a smartphone — a number that has almost doubled in the last four years — and 81% of students use mobile devices to study — a number that has doubled in the last two years. This accelerated emphasis on mobile access to information as the norm makes keeping up with rapidly changing technology a very important topic to discuss with all stakeholders involved. I look forward to leveraging what we do at Boopsie to contribute to this important discussion at ALA Midwinter.”
In addition to Boopsie, recently announced participating companies and executives include:
● Paul Cope, President of Auto-Graphics
● Beth Jefferson, CEO and Co-founder of BiblioCommons
● Ann Melaerts, Managing Director of Infor
● Bill Schickling, Senior Vice President of Global Sales of Innovative Interfaces
● Steve Potash, President and CEO of Overdrive
● Jane Burke, Vice President of Market Development for the Workflow Solutions unit of ProQuest
● Patrick Jones, Executive Director of LibLime
● Bill Davison, CEO of SirsiDynix
● Annette Murphy, CEO and Chairman of The Library Corporation
The Presidents’ Seminar will take place at the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts on Friday, January 8, 2016 from 2pm to 4pm in Room 257B Boston Convention Center. The seminar is open to everyone for dialogue on topical issues and concerns and registration is not required.
